Example: WebSocket Chat
A real-time chat server with rooms, JWT authentication, and broadcast messaging.
Two ways to build realtime chat in StreetJS — this page is the from-scratch tutorial. It hand-rolls a gateway over
StreetWebSocketServerto teach the primitives. For the production-shaped, CI-tested reference app — which uses the built-inChannelHubfor rooms, presence, typing indicators and history with auth at the upgrade — see the Realtime Chat showcase and its source atexamples/reference-apps/realtime-chat. The protocols differ on purpose: this tutorial uses a?token=query param and a simplechatevent; the reference app uses bearer auth and typedjoin/leave/message/typingframes.
